Manor Park Art Trail x MCDT

Handmade
Community Engagement
Augmented Reality

As part of the ongoing Economic Recovery Fund initiative, Manor & Castle Development Trust (MCDT) asked Neck of the Wood to create a series of murals in Sheffield's Manor Park. To capture the true essence of the area, Alastair looked to MCDT and Green Estate’s archives, Manor Park's community members, and worked with photographer Rachel Anthia Sherlock to shoot portraits of local community members. This initial phase of the project consisted of two murals. A ‘Coffee and Cake’ mural on the side of the Co-op celebrated a local councillor and, at the Manor Park Centre, a mural with an augmented reality element featured animations and recordings from Emmaus Catholic & C of E Primary School pupils. The journey continues, with upcoming projects with more local youth groups and schools slated for 2024. These endeavours aim to connect the two shopping precincts along the estate, further enriching the artistic landscape of Manor Park.
