Tapton Lock x Junction Arts

Handmade
Community Engagement

For over a decade, Junction Arts and Derbyshire Council have presented the Tapton Lock Festival. The free arts festival takes place along the scenic Chesterfield Canal and features outdoor theatre, music, dance, crafts workshops, stalls, 'have a go' canoes, boat rides, and much more. In 2023, Alastair worked with Thrive at Chesterfield FC Community Trust to help participants from their 14-18 crafts club to create art for the festival site. Together with the club members, he decided he wanted to create art with an eco-conscious theme, highlighting the canal-side nature. In workshops on photography and drawing, helped the kids design and complete some incredibly creative lino prints, which were the perfect addition to the festival's vibrant atmosphere.
