Mansfield Railway Station wasn’t the most inspiring place to return to after a long journey. First Art, Mansfield Council, the Robin Hood Line Partnership, and East Midlands Rail wanted to change that and commissioned a mural for the station’s underpass and platform. Teaming up with artist 'Peachzz' - Alastair hatched a plan. First, to explore the town’s heritage in a workshop with an expert think tank - the Year 5 pupils at Sutton Road Primary School - who helped develop an array of warm welcoming messages for the design. Next, Alastair got down to business, painting a fun and vibrant mural with a strong connection to the people of Mansfield. Not bad for three days onsite! All photos by Lamar Francois.
